Tuesday, 25 March 2014, 14:30
The All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations, to achieve a speedy and peaceful resolution of the existing internal and external challenges and for the normalization of the socio-political situation in Ukraine:

1. Once again, emphasizes its exclusive dedication to a peaceful and lawful settlement of the situation in Ukraine and confirms the principles contained in the “Appeal of the Leaders of Churches and Religious Organizations to Their Faithful and to All People of Good Will Regarding the Socio-Political Situation in Ukraine” of 10 December 2013, in the “Appeal of the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations on the Occasion of the Day of Unity and Freedom of Ukraine” of 22 January 2014, in theCommunique of the emergency meeting of the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations on 22 January 2014, in the “Statement of the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations on the Results of the Meeting Between the President and the Opposition” on 25 January 2014, in the “Statement of the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations Concerning the Results of the Meeting of the Leaders of the Supreme Council of Ukraine” on 26 February 2014, and in the “Statement of the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations Regarding the 1 March 2014 Decision of the Duma of the Federal Gathering of the Russian Federation” of 2 March 2014.

2. The All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations positively assesses the fact of the stabilization of the internal situation in the country, and the actions of the current government for their achievements. Once again, we call upon all citizens of our country to cast aside excessive emotionality and to conscientiously fulfil their service and civil duties strictly adhering to Ukrainian legislation and, in addition, we [remind] service personnel at all levels of the moral obligation of honouring the oaths that they gave. This is particularly important considering the external threats to the territorial integrity of Ukraine according to the borders defined by the Constitution of Ukraine.

3. We call upon the government and the citizens of Ukraine to immediate compliance with regard to the handling of weapons and their use, according to the laws of our country. Legal sanctions for the violation of these norms must be categorically applied for each offender, regardless of merit or motivation for the illegal use of a weapon. This refers to a clear threat to the greatest values: human life and health and the national safety of the homeland. For those who feel the inclination to defend the Motherland according to their religious and civil convictions with arms in hand - and are ready to do so - at the present moment, there is every legal means to realize this noble calling.

We are convinced that the continued consolidation of the actions of both the government and the citizens - based on the abovementioned principles and by upholding fundamental human rights and the rights of citizens - will contribute to a national solidarity of all the people of Ukraine that is strengthened by constitutional harmony, our country’s emergence from the crisis in international relations with the Russian Federation and, the conservation of the territorial integrity of our Homeland – Ukraine.
