A meeting with the Archbishop of Madrid finished a visit of the Head of the UGCC to Spain

On 14th of July in the frame of a pastoral visit to Spain was held a meeting of His Beatitude Sviatoslav, the Head of the UGCC with the Archbishop of Madrid Carlos Osoro. It is the last official meeting and it was held in the quarters of Madrid Episcopate.

The Archbishop of Madrid was accompanied with a priest Ismael Rojo and His Beatitude Sviatoslav with a bishop Dionisiy (Lyakhovych) and father Ivan Lypka.

After greetings and exchanging gifts, the Head of the UGCC thanked bishop Carlos for granting Ukrainian immigrants the church of Annunciation (Buen Suceso) for Sunday Mass Service, participated by thousands of faithful. Besides, the Head of the UGCC expressed his gratitude to Archdiocese for giving to their disposal during a week other quarters and chapels of this temple for catechist lessons for children and organizing a Saturday school, where study 150 Ukrainian children. It is worth mentioning, in a capital of Spain and its suburbs dwell more than 20 thousand of Ukrainians and up to 1000 of children who are the participants of five Ukrainian Saturday schools.

Hence, the archbishops discussed a need of creating new parochial communities and schools’ apartments, as well as a need of working nuns who would have helped priests in the sphere of a pastoral care of children and youth.

The archbishop Carlos promised to help, concerning a pastoral care of Ukrainians in his Archdiocese and, moreover, in the process of creating structures of UGCC in Spain.

After the meeting His Beatitude Sviatoslav gave an interview for an official edition of Spanish Bishops` Conference.
