A seminar on providing pastoral care for teachers was in Lviv

Representatives of UGCC Commission on Education and Upbringing initiated and organized a spiritual recollections-seminar on “Spiritual-moral aspects of pastoral care for teachers,” which took place in the Redemptorist Monastery in Lviv on December 21 and 22.

Participants in the seminar were chaplains of Catholic and general schools, teachers, educational specialists and heads of metropolitan and eparchial commissions on education and upbringing, representing the Lviv, Ivan-Frankivsk and Ternopil-Zboriv metropolitanates.  Presentations made at the seminar were: Christmas rebirth.

Spiritual thoughts about the liturgical texts; Experience of school collaboration in public awareness programs;  Role of a chaplain in a Catholic school;  Renewal  programs – recollections for teachers;  UGCC New Martyrs as Christian ideals in pastoral care of teachers;  A pastoral care guide of teachers. Selected Issues;  Moral-ethical issues in pastoral care service to teachers.

Speakers included representatives of various commissions:  Patriarchal Liturgical, UGCC  Family, UCU Institute of Family and Married Life, UGCC Postulate Center of Canonization and Beautification,  lecturers from UCU, Drohobych Pedagogical University and other specialists.  Seminar participants interacted with the speakers, expressed their viewpoints and shared their experiences in working groups.

It is planned that the seminar proceedings will be published as Pastoral Care for Teachers: A  Guidebook.
