On the initiative of the UGCC Committee on Issues of Education and Upbringing there was a spiritual workshop for teachers and students of Catholic schools with the representative of Croatia in the European Committee  on Issues of Catholic Education and the director of the Catholic school in Rieka, Croatia). Rev. Niko Tunichem, SDB.  The event took place within the framework of UGCC Week of Catholic Education.

At the beginning of the meeting, Sr. Khrystofora Bushtyn, Head of UGCC Commission on Primary Education, presented a guide for chaplains who work in   schools and kindergartens.

As Rev. Ivan Hlova of the Commission staff informed, during April 2-4, Rev. Niko will hold meetings in Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk and Kyiv.   During the event that was held in Lviv at the Church of the Protection of the Blessed Mother,       Rev. Niko Tunich SDB presented a talk on “The spiritual formation of a teacher” in which he examined the essential features of the Christian identity of a Catholic teacher.

“Being able to go out to the young people and to meet them by making the first step is a typical expression of the love of a teacher.  We should meet youth where they are, accept them without any preconditions, listening intently to their needs and expectations, there -- where youth will sooner or later end up with an empty bag --which will have to be filled with answers to the unspoken questions, the demonstrated serious self-ability, and a deep and non-amended yearning for validity and a future,” noted the Representative of Croatia in the European Committee on Issues of Catholic Education.

“Through such events, we want to familiarize the public with the activities of Christian schools, to explain the importance of Christian upbringing, and to induce both teachers and parents to be responsible for the education of their children,” stated Sr. Khrystofora, Head of UGCC Commission on Primary Education.
