On June 1st, International Children’s Day, students of the Lviv Archeparchy Catechetical Schools went on a pilgrimage.  This year, in the pilgrimage to the Monastery of St. Nicholas of the Basilian Fathers in Krekhiv some 1,500 people participated: children, their parents, spiritual mentors, and teachers.

In spite of the fact that the day was rainy, the children walked with the organizers, the Lviv Archeparchy Catechetical Commission, more that 4 kilometers on the streets in Krekhiv in order to pray together during the Pontifical Divine Liturgy in St. Nicholas Monastery.

The Liturgy was headed by Bishop Venedykt (Aleksiychuk), Lviv Auxiliary Bishop, together with priests, pastors, parochial catechetical school directors, who came to this miraculous place together with their students.

In his sermon the bishop urged children to befriend Jesus Christ.  The preacher encouraged the pilgrims to meet God often, especially through the Holy Eucharist.

At the end of the Liturgy, there was a prayer for the improvement of the health of children and a blessing with holy oil of all the members of the pilgrimage.

After words of gratitude for the Basilian Fathers for their hospitality, Rev. Pavlo Tsbiok, head of the Catechetical Commission spoke.  He noted that today the whole Church is praying together with its bishops with united hearts and lips, forming a joint prayer for our future – our children.

After a meal, there was entertainment of songs, dances and games organized for the children and held on Singing Field.
