An interdenominational conference for consecrated persons held in Kyiv

On the initiative of Ukrainian public organization Ukrainian League for Promoting the Development of Palliative and Hospice Care with the assistance of Vidrodzhennia International Fund, an interdenominational conference for consecrated persons began on January 30 and will end on February 1. The topic of the conference, held in the conference hall of the Drahomanov National Pedagogical University, is “The role of Churches and Religious Organizations in the Development and Provision of Palliative Care in Ukraine.” This was reported by Mr. Yaroslav Rak, Secretary of the UGCC Commission on Pastoral Health Care. The participants of the conference were blessed by the former head of the UGCC, His Beatitude Lubomyr (Husar). Then Fr. Dr. Ihor Boyko, dean of the Faculty of Philosophy and Theology and director of the School of Bioethics at the Ukrainian Catholic University, gave a report “Euthanasia – No! Palliative Care – Yes!” and Fr. Andrii Lohinn, chair of the Commission on Pastoral Health Care, reported on the religious needs of people with incurable diseases. The conference will include a training course in enneagrams with Fr. Arnaldo Pangrazzi, professor at the International Theology Institute of Pastoral Health Care in Rome. As part of this course, Fr. Pangrazzi will give a lecture “Spiritual and Religious Needs of Patients and Providing Assistance” and “Holistic Treatment of the Individual and Spiritual and Psychological Counseling in Palliative Care.”
