«Celebration of Christmas reminds us that God is with us, no matter what we are experiencing. It is a celebration of God which is with man. At Christmas God respects the man, he becomes a man himself. God begins to live the life of an ordinary poor man. This is an example that the Creator gives the government representatives and the opposition - to live the life of their people. This recipe is to apply for our social construction ", - said His Beatitude Svyatoslav (Shevchuk), the head of UGCC, in the" Interview time» on the air of Channel 5.

According to the Primate of the Church what we are experiencing now in the country - it's not a crisis, but " the appearance of something important and new ." "We have seen extraordinary activity and responsibility of the Ukrainian citizens for the future of their nation. The Church has always encouraged his faithful not to be indifferent and actively participate in the life of civil society. Today, on the social scene there is a key controller of the government – the civil society in Ukraine. I would say that Christmas - that is a civil holiday that today will strengthen and discover new content, "- he explained.

Last 20 years, according to the Head of UGCC – are steps of the democratic society formation in our country. Therefore, the future of democracy depends on the citizens. In this way the society has three objectives: to choose the power, to control it, and if necessary - to change it. According to the Major Archbishop of the UGCC, democracy – is the best kind of social life organization, because all the citizens can participate and monitor both power and political society.

"I urge everyone to not despair and seek the dialogue and the possibility of public debate. Because only in the form of honest conversation and hearing we can reach joint decisions. We expect that the authorities and political society will hear the people who want to speak with them now. Let in Christmas we renew our strength and hope for peace and justice in our country "- finally wished His Beatitude Svyatoslav.
