Last week, at the Cathedral of Saint Sophia in Rome, which in October this year is going to receive pilgrims from all over the world, five new crosses were put up, the largest of which was put up at the central dome of the temple. As it was reported by the head of the restoration works, Fr. Bogdan Prakh, the old crosses could not be renewed.

The crosses, which only recently started to decorate the cathedral, were made in Cherkassy. All the other roofing restoration works were performed by an Italian firm.

Let us recall, that in October this year, there will be the blessing of the restored Roman Cathedral of Saint Sophia taking place, and putting the crosses up on the domes may be marked as the completion of restoration works, which started in July last year. On this occasion, the Head of the UGCC, His Beatitude Sviatoslav (Shevchuk), urged the faithful people to participate in the All-Ukrainian Pilgrimage to Rome, as the part of measures have been inserted by Vatican into the official program of the Year of Faith in the Catholic Church.
