Recently in the Archeparchy of Kyiv a Biblical prayer book has been published which is to activate the practice of the domestic reading of holy scripture. The prayer book is a part of the realization of a short-term plan of evangelization accepted at the Council of the Kyiv Archeparchy on the theme of evangelization. In his introduction to the prayer book, Rev. Bishop Bohdan (Dzyurakh), auxiliary bishop of the Kyiv Archeparchy, said: "Offering this Biblical prayer book, which is the result of the suggestions of the Council of the Archeparchy on the theme of evangelization, I wish first of all to thank all those who helped in its publication. At the same time, for those who will use it for prayerful reading of the divine word, I sincerely wish gladness from the meeting with the Lord and willingness to be not only listeners of the divine word but also its executors.” Reading the prayer book will help the members of families get to know the word of God more deeply. This practice not only will be instrumental in strengthening the family, “a small Church,” but will help unite the whole Church community. The editorial commission recommends families at least one time per week to gather together for prayerful reading of the Bible and consideration of it. The whole prayer book is divided into 16 themes, each of which is an illustration of the history of salvation. Next to the Biblical texts short entertainments and “pastoral advice” are given, so that the reading of the divine word can be incarnated in the daily life of man through concrete acts of mercy and help to neighbor. The prayer book can be purchased at parishes of the Kyiv Archeparchy.  www.kyiv.ugcc.org.ua/ua/press_releases.html
