On May 28th a meeting of the priests of the Lviv Archeparchy with Bishop Joseph (Milan), Auxiliary Bishop of the Kyiv Archeparchy, head of UGCC Pastoral- Missionary Department (PMD) took place in the Holy Spirit Spiritual Seminary.  The goal of the meeting was to discuss implementation of UGCC Strategy of Development by 2020, specifically aspects of and missions.

“The strategy has been completed, approved and is ready to be implemented.  And on this meeting I was asked to talk on the topics of communion and missions. The issue of communion was always vital.  Christ at his Last Supper prayed for unity among the apostles, for the unity of the Church.  We do not totally understand as communion the unity of the Church, because the unity of the Church is very often understood as the unity of a family, or the parish, or the deaconate.  And many find it difficult to realize that the unity of the Church, which extends from Peremyshel to Kazakhstan, needs to be developed,” stated Bishop Joseph.

PMD Head announced that the meeting would have two parts: an academic lecture followed by work in groups during which the priests could demonstrate their creativity in approaching the issues of communion and missions.

“I had the impression that the talk engaged the priests.”  Bishop Venedykt (Aleksiychuk), Auxiliary Bishop of Lviv Archeparchy, said that “the priests got so interested in the unity and missions of our Church, that they even decided on a concrete step – to publish the results of the work in groups,” emphasized the bishop.

Also Bishop Joseph presented  to the Lviv clergy the guidebook Missology by Rev. Myron Bendyka, rector of Drohobych Spiritual Seminary.  The book was recently published by PMD.
