On December 17, Bishop Mykola Bychok, Eparch of Melbourne, met with two Eastern Bishops in the Chancellery of the Melbourne Eparchy, Bishop Robert Rabbat, Eparch of the Melkite Eparchy of Australia and New Zealand, and Bishop Antoine-Charbel Tarabay, Eparch of the Maronite Eparchy of St. Maroun.

Both bishops came to Melbourne to meet Bishop Mykola for the first time and congratulate him on his enthronement as Eparch of Melbourne as they were unable to attend due to the coronavirus pandemic. During the meeting several different issues were discussed that are common to all Eastern Churches on the green continent. It was emphasized that the Eastern Churches make up 10% of Catholics in Australia. Discussions were centred around all the  challenges facing our churches.

Bishop Mykola shared with the bishops about the underground Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, which was persecuted by the communist regime. The bishop also spoke about his previous ministries before being elected Eparch of Melbourne. During the meeting, the bishops touched upon the issue of peace in Ukraine, as there is now a lot of information from various media about a possible war.

At the end of the meeting, Bishop Mykola thanked the bishops for a friendly visit, followed by a joint lunch. It is worth noting that there are five Eastern bishops in Australia: Bishop Amel Nona, Archbishop of the Chaldeans Eparchy, Bishop Mykola Bychok, Eparch of Melbourne, Bishop Robert Rabbat, Eparch of the Melkite Eparchy, Bishop Antoine-Charbel Tarabay, Eparch of the Maronite Eparchy, and Bishop Bosco Putur, Eparch of Eparch Syro-Malabar Eparchy.
