The words of Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky, "The work of a pastor with children is the most real part of pastoral work...without it all other work will bring little good," became the slogan of meeting of the Catechetical Commission of the Kyiv-Halych Major Archbishopric of the UGCC. The event was held on December 13, 2010, at the Ukrainian Catholic University. "Our large meeting confirms that we are going the only path in the ministry of God's word and in the education of children in faith. These meetings are a possibility for us to share with others our common challenges and achievements," said sister Louise Tsyupa (SSMI), deputy head of the Patriarchal Church’s Catechetical Commission and director of Catechetical Institute of UCU. The event was led by Fr. Michael Harvat, head of the Metropolitan Catechetical Commission. Participants reviewed the plan of the Catechetical Commission for 2011, discussed holding catechetical visitations, creating a pastoral catechetical adviser, and organizing a joint meeting of Church catechists and diocesan seminars for commissions. At the meeting were also present the new head of the Catechetical Commission of Exarchate of Lutsk, Andrew Koval, and head of the Catechetical Commission of Odesa-Crimea Exarchate, Fr. Ivan Prots. In his speech, Fr. Peter Rak, head of the commission of the Patriarchal Curia UGCC, said: "The church commissions of the UGCC were created so that the church could go to the most remote corners of the world to serve society and individuals. On the one hand, each commission has its own specialization, while, on the other hand, each is an integral part of one body: the church."
