From June 22 to July 5, over 20 children of Mykolay Church on Askold’s Grave in Kyiv and 3 children from Kherson, together with spiritual leaders Fr. Oleksiy Henyk, Sister Anastasia Balinska, and catechists, rested in the Kherson region in Iron Port near the Black Sea. As noted Sister Balinska: “The purpose of our Christian camp is to explain to the participants that the Divine Liturgy is the biggest treasure in which God grants Himself to a person. Praying at the Divine Liturgy and during the catechetical meetings, every day the participants found new treasures.” In the year of vocation to consecrated life, the participants of the camp chose their patrons: Reverend Mother Josaphata Hordashevska, Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky, Patriarch Joseph Slipyj, Blessed Clement Sheptytskyj, Bishop Mykolay Charnetskyj, and Fr. Omelyan Kovch. The children had the opportunity to learn to swim and to sail on catamarans and little boats. Also they had an excursion to the Askania Nova Preserve and visited an arboretum and a zoo. On the last day they visited the Fathers of Order of Saint Basil the Great in the city Kherson. They prayed in the wooden of Sts. Cyril and Metodius Church. In addition, they visited the construction site of a monastery. “We are extraordinarily grateful to the Lord for the days spent at the seaside, which became for all of us special because we believe that in searching for spiritual treasures we are not only resting and gaining spiritual and physical force, but growing to love the Divine Liturgy even more,” said Sister Balinska.
