During the pilgrimage to holy places in Constantinople, UGCC Head will meet with Patriarch Bartholomew I

On April 19th a pilgrimage to holy places of ancient Constantinople by His Beatitude Sviatoslav (Shevchuk), Head of the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church and Bishop Borys (Gudziak), Director of UGCC International Relations Department, began. This pilgrimage is being done within the context of the celebration of the 1025th anniversary of the Baptism of Rus-Ukraine and will last until April 22nd.

On April 19th a pilgrimage to holy places of ancient Constantinople by His Beatitude Sviatoslav (Shevchuk), Head of the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church and Bishop Borys (Gudziak), Director of UGCC International Relations Department, began.  This pilgrimage is being done within the context of the celebration of the 1025th anniversary of the Baptism of Rus-Ukraine and will last until April 22nd.

During the pilgrimage, the UGCC delegation will meet with the Constantinople Patriarch Bartholomew I. In the words of His Beatitude Sviatoslav, “this is a courtesy visit to the Mother Church of Christians of the Kyiv tradition.”

Also the UGCC delegation will visit Hagia Sophia, the Greek-Catholic Church of the Holy Trinity, the Church of the Virgin of Vlachernae, the Patriarchal Church of St George, and others.
