Exhibition Chaplains opened in Kyiv

An exhibition "Chaplains" dedicated to clergymen of various religions and denominations has opened in the memorial complex "National Museum of the History of Ukraine in the Second World War" in Kyiv.

With the blessing of His Beatitude Sviatoslav, Head and Father of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, the opening ceremony was attended by representatives of the Department of Military Chaplaincy of the Patriarchal Curia of the UGCC Fr. Andriy Zelinsky, TI, Fr. Rostyslav Vysochan and Oleksandr Melnyk.

The ceremony began with the "Prayer of the Military Chaplain," which was read by the author Fr. Andriy Zelinsky.

The General Director of the Museum Ivan Kovalchuk noted that the mission of the exhibition is to show the chaplain as a warrior, friend, adviser, who is ready to give his life for the Motherland and his brothers.

The heroes of the exposition became the clergymen Andriy Zelinsky, Liubomyr Yavorsky, Yuriy Kazmirenko, Serhiy Dmytriiev, Dmytro Povorotny, Andriy Polukhin, Serhiy Moroz, Fidelis Volnistov, Pavlo Honcharuk, Said Ismahilov, Murad Putilin, Asher-Josef Cherkasky.

During the opening, the heroes of the exhibition shared their vision of the mission of military chaplain, personal experience of staying in the war zone. They all spoke about their mission in the same way: the chaplain is a spiritual adviser, mentor, and helper.

The personal items of military chaplains brought to the Museum's collection, documentary photographs and art installations "Silhouettes of Fate" and "Angels," as well as audiovisual projects "Light" and "Psalm 90" – all of these have created a collective image of a military pastor and spiritual guardian of the Ukrainian army.
