From the Head of the UGCC on the 92nd day of the war: The world must realize the danger of the pandemic of “Russian world”

Today we must do everything to ensure that Russia's war crimes do not spread throughout the world. And today Ukraine is at the forefront of the struggle. His Beatitude Sviatoslav, the Father and Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church said in his daily military address on the 92nd day of Ukraine's opposition to Russian military aggression.

“We are stopping this evil,” says the Primate. “However, the world must realize the danger of a Russian pandemic and the justification of war crimes, even for religious reasons”.

Although Russia, he notes, can no longer wage a full-scale war on all fronts in the same way, in some regions blood is flowing.

Despite everything, Ukraine is standing. Ukraine is fighting, although it is paying the highest price for its freedom in that struggle. “However, we need allies and their help to fight evil together,” he said. Today we are especially worried and praying for Severodonetsk in the Luhansk region, as well as for Slovyansk and Kramatorsk in the Donetsk region, for that part of Ukraine that is now in the center of the Russian attack. There are full-scale hostilities along the entire front line. The south of our Ukraine is heroically holding on, although the enemy is trying to advance, shelling Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhia regions. There are battles in the north of the Kherson region. The city of Mykolayiv is under fire”, said His Beatitude Sviatoslav.

On this day, the spiritual leader continued to reflect on another way of being accessory to other people’s sin – by silence.

We see, the Primate notes, that human sin is a spiritual disease that has a dangerous property of infecting other people around. “To curb the spread of the disease, a sick person must be isolated, just like in the time of the coronavirus pandemic. The same should be done when it comes to a sinful person who infects those around him with his sins. We must do everything possible to distance ourselves from the actions of such a person, because if the crime is not punished, the criminal behavior grows and spreads”, said His Beatitude Sviatoslav.

In the spiritual life, the spiritual leader continued, sin must be treated by choosing the “cure” for the guilt. “However, before starting treatment, one should dissociate oneself from sinful behavior and give it a fair assessment. In the spiritual sense, the cure is punishment”, says the spiritual leader.

“We ask the whole world to be careful with the spiritual diseases that our invaders spread. We ask you not to remain silent about this trouble”, His Beatitude Sviatoslav urges.
