From the Head of the UGCC: Today we are experiencing 100 days of the war, 100 days of great manifestation of God's presence between us

Ukrainians have been defending their land for a hundred days. For a hundred days, Ukrainians have been holding back the Russian invasion, which exceeds all resources which we can oppose. At the same time we are experiencing a hundred days of great manifestation of God's presence among us. His Beatitude Sviatoslav, the Father and Head of the UGCC said in his daily address on the 100th day of the war.

The Archbishop says that we believe that the Lord is the only one upon who we can and should place our hope for. And today, on this hundredth day of the war, we begin the first day of the Missionary Decade, which is the ten days of waiting for the coming of the Holy Spirit. During these days our Church prays for a missionary spirit, prays for being able to share her faith with those who are not yet Christians today and have not encountered Jesus Christ.

Hence the Head of the Church then referred to a passage from today's Gospel that tells about a conversation between Christ and his disciples at the Last Supper.

“And then Philip said to Jesus, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.” This apostle expresses the deepest desire of every person – to know their Creator, to know their Savior. This is the deepest desire of every person, which they must realize in their life,” he points out.

The Primate also explained that when we talk about the search for truth, understanding what happens to a person, even in a brutal war, we are pointing to Christ. Moreover, when we seek the fullness of life, we want to live, even in times of deadly military invasion, we are preaching Christ.

“As we are walking together this path of the Missionary Decade, I ask you to pray for all our priests, monks, nuns, and laity who preach Christ to those who do not yet know Him, for those who carry out this missionary work of our Church. I ask you for a special prayer for our soldiers. They are special witnesses of God’s presence for us today, since there are no atheists on the front line. Even unbelievers feel that there is someone on the border between life and death, and Christians know who He is and point to the living God present in us in His Son Jesus Christ,” said the Father and Head of the UGCC.

“Today we pray for all those who do not yet know the true way, who are still seeking God. O God, help us to fulfill our missionary vocation. O God, bless Ukraine. O, God, grant joy to Your children from encountering You. O, God, You are our Truth, You are our life, let us live in You, know You, meet You, help the whole world to know You,” asks His Beatitude Sviatoslav.
