Head of UGCC discusses church-state relations in area of culture with Minister of Culture and Tourism of Ukraine

On January 18, 2012, His Beatitude Sviatoslav (Shevchuk), head of the UGCC, had an official meeting with the Minister of Culture and Tourism of Ukraine Mykhailo Kulyniak. The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Minister Yurii Bohutskyi.
On January 18, 2012, His Beatitude Sviatoslav (Shevchuk), head of the UGCC, had an official meeting with the Minister of Culture and Tourism of Ukraine Mykhailo Kulyniak. The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Minister Yurii Bohutskyi. During the meeting, the sides discussed current issues of the life and activity of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in Ukraine, in particular, the important role of the church in preserving the cultural heritage of the Ukrainian people. At the meeting the head of the UGCC gave the minister a reprint of the Buchach Gospel and the Catechism of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church "Christ Is Our Easter."

  About the Buchach Gospel The Buchach Gospel is a Church Slavonic text copied in Ukraine, in Volhynia, in the 12th-13th centuries. In the 15th century it was kept in a monastery in the village Horodyshche, and later in a Basilian monastery in Buchach. Currently it is in the Lviv National Museum
