Similar university programs have been active in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Minsk, and Vilnius for decades, reported the Information Department of UCU. “At UCU we plan to start a master's and PhD program for studying Judaism in eastern Europe. Part of them will also be conducted in Jerusalem. This will include programs in Jewish history, culture, ethnography, and literature. A number of professors from Jerusalem are to come here,” noted a professor of the Humanitarian Department of the Jerusalem University, Israel Bartal. “It is not the first time that we will open such programs in eastern Europe. But it will be the first such program in Ukraine. For the last twenty to thirty years we have cooperated with M. Lomonosov’s Moscow State University, Belarusian State University of Minsk, and Vilnius University,” said Professor Bartal.   The Hebrew University is one of the oldest universities in Israel and is an international center of study of Judaism and Jewish history. Four Israeli prime ministers were its students. During the last decade, seven graduates of the university were awarded the Nobel Prize. In 2010, it was nominated fifth in the international category 'Best place to work in the academy'.” It belongs to the top 110 world universities.
