His Beatitude Sviatoslav about His Beatitude Lubomyr: The united Kyivan Church in a single patriarchate was his dream and testament
Friday, 25 September 2020, 14:51 The Church of Kyiv in a single patriarchate, without inner conflict, but with the sharing of the gifts we have gathered on the way to this unity, was the dream of His Beatitude Lubomyr and his testament to all of us. This was said by His Beatitude Sviatoslav, Father and Head of the UGCC, within the framework of the project "Join the Great," talking about the role of Lubomyr Husar in the development of the UGCC and the strengthening of the Church in Ukraine.-

"His Beatitude Lubomyr went down in history forever as the Primate who returned the seat of the Head of the UGCC to Kyiv," said His Beatitude Sviatoslav.
This return to the roots, to the sources, caused many questions, doubts, and for some people, perhaps, indignation and protest.
In the video, the Head of the UGCC recalled that in the spring of 2004, before moving the seat of the Head of the Church from Lviv to Kyiv, His Beatitude Lubomyr addressed the people with a special message entitled United People of God in the Land Upon the Mountains of Kyiv. In this letter he spoke about three points: about the past, about the present, and then he shared his dream about the future.
His Beatitude Sviatoslav also recalled the amazing wisdom in the above-mentioned message, which was inspired by the Holy Spirit: "It is not the first time that His Beatitude invites us to look at our Orthodox brothers as those who belong to the same roots with us. This is the idea of Kyivan Christianity as such. Perhaps His Beatitude Lubomyr invites all of us, children of the Kyivan Church, who today live, pray, communicate with God in different denominations, not to see each other as a rival or enemy, but as a brother.”
His Beatitude Sviatoslav added that His Beatitude Lubomyr urged not only the Christians of Ukraine, but also the world centers of Christianity - Rome, Constantinople and Moscow - not to look at papers, canons, theoretical theological considerations, but to see the reality. He called to look at the living Church, which today is experiencing a stage of unprecedented prosperity in Ukraine.
“As for Lubomyr Husar's vision for all the heirs of the Kyivan tradition, he formulated it with ingenious simplicity - the restored unity of the once united, but now divided Kyivan Church in a single patriarchate."
According to the Head of the Church, today it sounds like a challenge.
"I think, the only Kyivan Church in a single patriarchate without inner conflicts, but with the sharing of the gifts we have gathered on the way to this unity, is probably the dream of His Beatitude Lubomyr and his testament to all of us," said His Beatitude. Sviatoslav.
This idea of a single Church of Kyiv, according to His Beatitude Sviatoslav, should inspire us today, awaken our conscience, so that we do not calm down and remain in denominational fragmentation. Let this unity not frighten anyone - unity is not the belittling of someone, but the prosperity of all.
