His Beatitude Sviatoslav and Roman Kostenko held a discussion on pastoral care for military officers

July 13, 2021 the Father and Head of the UGCC His Beatitude Sviatoslav met with a people’s deputy, secretary of the Committee on National Security, Defence, and Intelligence at Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. The discussion was about a regulation of pastoral care for military officers.

Particularly, they were talking about the draft Law No.4626 "On the Military Chaplaincy Service" and introducing it to the parliament on second reading. It was taken by the legislative branch as a basis on first reading on the 21st of May, 2021.

The Head of the Church thanked the elected official for his personal active participation in adopting the law and efforts he and other members of the Committee on National Security, Defence, and Intelligence devoted to the process of drafting and introducing the bill.

His Beatitude Sviatoslav assured that the UGCC is ready to provide Ukrainian soldiers with care for their spiritual and religious needs on different levels thereafter, in order to maintain decent pastoral care and facilitate personal values of our defenders.

Roman Kostenko in turn acknowledged what a great contribution military chaplains of the UGCC make, so to preserve spiritual wellbeing and quality development of Ukrainian troops.
