"If you look at how modern movies and different ideas represent the future, it is mostly associated with disasters. There are already movies about the world after people. People are beginning to fear their future," said the Primate of the UGCC.

He explained that when thinking about the end of the world, Christians use the word "apocalypse" in a completely incorrect sense.

"Usually, we put an inevitable catastrophe or end in the meaning of the word ‘apocalypse’. But in the Christian sense, the Greek word ‘apocalypse’ means ‘revelation.’ In the Hebrew tradition, time is compared to a veil. So, revelation is an opportunity to unfold the veil and see what is there,” he explained.

“As Christians, we have good news in the context of Christmas that our future is Christ. It is the center and crown of history,” the Head of the Church emphasized.

According to him, in the Gospel of Luke we hear that Christ gives certain signs that indicate the completion of history. He says: if you see these signs approaching, smile, because for believing Christians the final moment of encounter with Christ is not associated with death and destruction, but with joy and eternal life.
