His Beatitude Sviatoslav consecrated a new church in Vinnytsia region

June 2, 2011 the Head of the UGCC His Beatitude Sviatoslav arrived to village Pohrebyshche in Vinnytsia region to consecrate a newly built Ascension church. Before entering the church building, the UGCC Primate was met by children of the parish who welcomed him with a traditional Ukrainian bread (korovaj) and flowers. As it was reported by the parish priest, Rev. Taras Myrka, the church has been built by the whole church community and with the help of benefactors for 5 years.

As it was reported by the parish priest, Rev. Taras Myrka, the church has been built by the whole church community and with the help of benefactors for 5 years.   Before the beginning of the Pontifical Divine Liturgy, a consecration of the altar with special placement of the relics into it took place followed thereafter by the rite of consecration of the church.   The Pontifical Liturgy presided at by His Beatitude Sviatoslav was attended by a good number of parishioners from different parish communities in Vinnytsia region. The following priests were con celebrating the Liturgy with His Beatitude: Rev. Mykhailo Voloshyn, C.Ss.R. – the dean of Vinnytsia deanery, Rev. Taras Myrka and Rev. Mykola Durkalets.   During the sermon the Head of the UGCC expressed his gratitude in a special way to all the benefactors. He stressed out that making a donation “is not a sacrifice to anybody but, first of all, it is an offering for the salvation of the benefactors’ souls”.   After the Liturgy, His Beatitude Sviatoslav met with the representatives of different branches of power at village, district and regional levels. The Head of the UGCC thanked the state representatives for their support of the Church and wished them “to receive from the Lord their reward for their good deeds”.   After that His Beatitude Sviatoslav had a talk with the parishioners of the Ascension church in a very “heartfelt atmosphere”.
