On April 15, 2020, at the residence of the Head of the Church, His Beatitude Sviatoslav met with the Head of the National Police of Ukraine, Police General of the third rank Ihor Klymenko.

During the meeting, the Head of the National Police of Ukraine thanked His Beatitude Sviatoslav and, in his person, the whole of the UGCC for a well-considered and consistent position regarding the coronary threat. “Our cooperation (with the Church- Ed.) is already showing positive results.  This was especially evident on Palm Sunday, when the overwhelming majority of believers, and almost all of the UGCC, displayed a high level of  social responsibility.  I ask that we continue to act in such a way that we do not allow the virus to erupt with even greater force,” said Head of the National Police.

For his part, His Beatitude Sviatoslav thanked the Head of the National Police of Ukraine for his collaboration. He observed that our faithful face this challenge of time with dignity.  He also informed General Klymenko about the full range of practical actions of our Church in helping the society and state in overcoming the pandemic.

During the meeting, the participants exchanged views on the likely increase in social tension caused by the recession of the economy through quarantine measures, and agreed that in this regard it is necessary to act in close cooperation between the state and civil society, an integral part of which is the religious community.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Father and the Head of the UGCC wished all law enforcement officers good health and blessing of God in performing such important and difficult, especially in the present time, ministry for the protection of law and order, life and health of people and presented the guest with a memorable illustrated edition about our Church.
