His Beatitude Sviatoslav met with the Minister of Defence of Ukraine

March 12, 2014, His Beatitude Sviatoslav (Shevchuk) met with Minister of Defence of Ukraine Igor Tenyukh. The event was held at the request of the Church. There were also Bishop Mykhaylo (Koltun), the Head of the Pastoral Department of the power structure of the UGCC Patriarchal Curia and Fr. Lubomyr Javorskyi, his deputy.

His Beatitude Sviatoslav assured the Minister in support of the military by the UGCC, "We 'll be together with the military and support them wherever they are. Every Wednesday in our church people are praying and fasting for the soldiers. I am sure this is nonrandomness that our meeting took place exactly on Wednesday." In addition, the possibilities of Chaplain service at different points in the military deployment were discussed.

We have to add that the Minister of Defence sent a letter to the Major Archbishop of the UGCC with words of gratitude for the fact that the Church is present among the military.
