After meeting with UGCC Lutsk Exarchate clergy, held on March 26, 2013 as part of the first canonical visit to this exarchate by UGCC Head His Beatitude Sviatoslav (Shevchuk), UGCC Primate met with youth.  He greeted the young people with the upcoming first jubilee - five years of the establishment of UGCC Lutsk Exarchate, to be celebrated in April.

“My visit was planned to afford us an opportunity to thank God together for this first anniversary,” informed the group UGCC Primate. “I have wanted to meet you for a while and to show you my respect, so that you could understand that UGCC Head loves you, thinks of you, cares about you, and serves you.”

As UCC Primate stated, the first five years of the existence of an exarchate does not mean that it has only been five years that Greek-Catholics have lived in Volyn.  UGCC history began neither 5 years ago, nor 500 years ago.  In reminding the audience that this year UGCC together with all Churches in Ukraine will be celebrating the 1025th anniversary of the Baptism of Rus-Ukraine, he stated that this will be a special day for all Christians in Ukraine. His Beatitude Sviatoslav

also remembered that 25 years ago his predecessor Myroslav Ivan (Lubachivsky) together with the Roman Pope His Beatitude John Paul II celebrated the millennium jubilee of the Baptism of Rus-Ukraine in Rome, in Saint Sophia Basilica which had been built by Patriarch Josyf Slipyi.  “When during the celebrations, His Beatitude Myroslav said that soon there will be an independent Ukraine and our Church will be freed, he was perceived as a dreamer who did not understand the reality of the existing world.  Now we see that the empire of evil did fall down and that our Church became free with UGCC headquarters in Kyiv.”

UGCC Head invited the young people of the exarchate to participate in the All-National Pilgrimage to the UGCC Patriarchal cathedral in Kyiv during which on August 18th the church will be blessed.  “I will very much await you in Kyiv,” he noted.  His Beatitude Sviatoslav added that during this spiritual event, the participants will thank the Lord that thanks to His help, the whole world has changed in the last 25 years and today UGCC, as was prophesied by Metropolitan Andrey (Sheptytsky) has not only become free but has spread throughout the world.  “Although the headquarters of UGCC are in Ukraine, we are present in the whole world.  And that is one more proof of the power of the Resurrected Savior,” concluded UGCC Head and Father.
