In Austria, the representative of the UGCC took part in the conference of the Union of Catholic social ethics in Central Europe

Recently, in the State University of Vienna (Austria), there was a conference taking place, which was organized on the initiative of the representatives of the Union of Catholic social ethics in Central Europe, in which also participated the representative of the UGCC, Dr. Volodymyr Sheremeta, who is the Head of the Bureau of the UGCC on environmental issues. This was reported by the press service of the Bureau of the UGCC on environmental issues.

In the research and practice event, which became a logical continuation of the conference "Justice in the Modern World: Ecology - Economics - Ethics", the first one to give a speech was ​​Mr. Sheremeta, who presented the key environmental issues in Ukraine, as well as, the contribution of the UGCC to the preservation of the world created by God. Head of the Bureau of the UGCC on environmental issues stated that the adequate response to the environmental challenges is possible only through the implementation of complex political, social, environmental and technical programs, according to the concept of sustainable development. "The Church has special powers and tasks to help the faithful people to implement a peculiar ecological conversion in ways of thinking and behaving, with the aim to make the practical life correspond to the truths of faith in God the Creator and Savior of the world. It is in this, where the Bureau of the UGCC on environmental issues sees its primary goal” - said the spokesman.

This event was also attended by the members of the Union, by the lecturers and students of the university, as well as by those who had some more in depth interest in the topic of the relationship between social and environmental issues on the national and international levels. The speakers were the members of the board of the Union of Catholic social ethics in Central Europe, who highlighted the social and environmental situation in the countries, which they represent. This event was attended by approximately a dozen of Central European countries.

Prof. Dr. Ingeborn Gabriel, the president of the Union of Catholic social ethics in Central Europe, drew attention to those who attended to the fact that, despite many years of hiding and problems related to that, the UGCC managed to take a leading position in the field of formation of environmental awareness on the principles of Christian faith and ethics. Professor Gabriel noted that some of the issues, which were presented by the Bureau of the UGCC on environmental issues, are worth of being translated into German and other European languages ​​and be employed during the environmental education and training, which is conducted in churches on the national level.

Within the frames of the conference, there was also a meeting of the Council of the Union taking place, on the agenda of which there was a number of business issues, including the employment of three new members, among whom there is also Dr. Volodymyr Misterman, the Deputy Director of the Bureau of the UGCC on environmental issues.
