In the Subcarpathian region today, on June 30, with the Pontifical Liturgy, led by His Beatitude Sviatoslav (Shevchuk), the Father and the Head of the UGCC, was celebrated the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Congregation of Sisters Myrrhophores.

"Today we have gathered together so numerously in the Cathedral to give thanks to the Lord for the first 100th anniversary of the Sisters Myrrhophores Congregation. For their tireless heroic activities in our church"- said the Head of the Church during the sermon to the faithful.

The Preacher explained what means to thank God. "In the books of Scripture, the word" thanks" is often understood as to confess, recognize, and praise God. To thank God means, first of all, to glorify His work of salvation and mercy to us. Thanks also means to repent, receive God's gift of mercy that the Lord sends us"- said the Archbishop.

He says that who is grateful, does not lose anything, but inversely - is able to take greater gift. So today we thank God for all the gifts through the ministry of the Sisters Myrrhophores He sent to our church.

100 years of Sisters Myrrhophores serving. "According to God's peculiar plan the day of the founding of the Congregation coincides with the beginning day of the First World War. In those hundred years, many states have disappeared as invaders and occupiers passed through our land. They came and went away, and Sisters Myrrhophores stayed "- said His Beatitude Sviatoslav.

The Preacher reminded that the Gospel Myrrhophores were the ones who stayed with the Virgin Mary and John the Evangelist by the cross of the Saviour. And they did not run away. They accompanied His lifeless body to the grave. And they against any logic and human hope in the morning rushed to the tomb of Christ. Therefore, they the first received news of His resurrection. They were guided by love for God and desire to do charity" - said the Preacher.

According to the Head of the Church, the myrrh, which is 100 years borne by the women myrrhophores - it's their life full of the Holy Spirit.

The Head of the Church welcomed the Sisters on behalf of the whole fullness of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church of this God’s day. "On this day we ask God for you to be able to take more gifts. Be bearers of hope, carriers of confess, faith in God who continues to be active and present in our midst. Bring Christian compassion to people who need it"- wished His Beatitude Sviatoslav.

At the end the Head of the UGCC thanked all the priests, monks and nuns who numerously gathered to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Sisters Myrrhophores.
