The Community of Deaf and Hard of Hearing people "Following Jesus" invites, on the 27 April 2013, to join the prayer of the Way of Cross, which will take place in the Garrison Church of Sts. Apostles Peter and Paul, which is in Lviv, to the music of Academic Chamber Orchestra "Lviv Virtuosos", under the direction of Myron Yusypovych. The prayer will start at 19.00.

Speaking of this community, which operates at the Church of St. Archangel Mykhail, Fr. Liubomyr Mostovyi, confessor of the community, indicated that it already operates since 2005 on the initiative of Mr. Bohdan Zakalyk, for the deaf people in the parish of St. Mykhail Fathers of the Studite Order. Back then, this community consisted of only few people, however, now it is attended by an average of about fifty people. "Since then, with the blessing of the Superior Father of the Fathers of the Studite Order, the sign language translation of some parts of the Divine Liturgy was conducted; it was conducted by sister Anna of the Studite order” - continues the priest. And already from 2011, with the blessing of Metropolitan of Lviv, Archbishop Ihor (Voznyak), Archbishop and Metropolitan of Lviv, Fr. Liubomyr was appointed as a spiritual director of the community. It was then decided to make a separate Liturgy with the sign language translation. And now, in the church of St. Archangel Mykhail, such Liturgies with sign language translations for the deaf people are held each week.

"Deaf people have a special way of conveying those things which hearing people cannot do. Since I am with them, I started to look at things differently. I thank God for such an opportunity", - commented Fr. Liubomyr.

It should also be added that every Sunday and every holiday, the members of the community take part in the mass which is translated into the sign language. Deaf people have the opportunity to deepen their spiritual lives, to get to know God more deeply, to serve and to assist each other on the road to salvation, as Christians do. After the Liturgy there are taking place some religious meetings and trainings in order to better know the Word of God. Deaf people have the opportunity, at any time, to address the priest regarding their spiritual needs and the confessions. And the first Friday of each month, at 16.30, Confessions take place. The spiritual preparation for such Holy Sacraments as Baptism, Marriage and others is being held. Moreover, the pilgrimages to the holy places and holiday trips to the Carpathians are organized.
