On the 22nd of March, there will be held the annual youth pilgrimage to Majdanek (Lublin, Poland) - to the place of the imprisonment and the martyrdom of Blessed hieromartyr Omelyan Kovch. On the occasion of the Year of Faith, it will be held under the slogan: "Let us strengthen the faith through the testimony of the martyrs".

During the way of the Cross, Ukrainian and Polish youth will bear the cross, will read the Statius.

Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church holds a pilgrimage to Majdanek with the blessing of His Beatitude Sviatoslav.

Information:

Emelyan Kowcz (http://kovch.com.ua/ua/main) (20.08.1884 - 25.03.1944) – the Greek Catholic priest, the longtime pastor in Peremyshliany, the father of six children, the active social and religious figure. He was imprisoned in a German concentration camp, where he was secretly satisfying the spiritual needs of Ukrainians, Poles, Jews, Estonians, Russians...  For this he was named the pastor of Majdanek. On the 27th of June 2001, Pope John Paul II declared Fr. Emelyan Kowcz as a blessed. On the 24th of April 2009, he was officially proclaimed as a blessed hieromartyr Emelyan Kowcz, the protector of pastors of the UGCC.

- 12:00 – the opening ceremony of the pilgrimage (near the Monument to the Struggle and Martyrdom);

- 12:02 – the speeches of the official delegations (approximately 4 speeches lasting for 3 min). The laying of flowers to the Monument to the Struggle and Martyrdom, the candle lighting;

- 12:15 – the service near the Monument to Struggle and Martyrdom;

- 12:35 – the prayer for the beatification of Fr. Emelyan Kowcz. The laying of flowers to the memorial plaque with the words of Fr. Emelyan Kowcz, the candle lighting;

- 12:40 - 14:00 – the guided tours to Majdanek (groups set off at intervals of 10 min);

- 15:00 – the Lunch Break;

- 16:00 - 18:30 - to be selected from:

1) The Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts (Church in Lublin);

2) The tour around Lublin;

3) The watching of the movie and the documentary presentation about the Fr. Emelyan Kowcz (Pavilion in Majdanek);

- 18:30 – the comeback of the groups to the Monument of Struggle and Martyrdom, the preparation for the way of the Cross;

- 19:00 – the way of the Cross with the participation of Ukrainian and Polish youth. The young people will bear the cross, will read the Statius, and will sing the songs of Passion (beginning at the Monument to the Struggle and Martyrdom, the last stop - Mausoleum);

- 21:00 – the end of the events.
