In Siberia, UGCC faithful celebrated St. Nicholas Day

St. Nicholas Day was celebrated in the parish of Three Saints, which is in the Megion, Russia on December 18, 2011. After taking part in the Divine Liturgy, children of the parish presented a small play dedicated to St. Nicholas, said Vasyl Melnykovych, pastor of the parish of the Three Saints.

Children and parents, continuing Ukrainian traditions, said a thanksgiving prayer to God for being allowed to cultivate their customs and religious practices in a foreign land. “Wherever people are, they always try to maintain their heritage, which they received from their ancestors. Similarly, Ukrainians in distant Siberia try to cherish their rituals and traditions,” said Fr. Vasyl Melnykovych
