In Sokal and in Zhovkva the laity is taught to be the leaders in parishes

In Sokal and in Zhovkva the educational program "Fundamentals of Christian faith and ministry in the parishes" is taking place. Among the participants there are lay people aged 15 to 30 years, who come from a number of parishes of Sokal-Zhovkva Diocese.

In Sokal and in Zhovkva the educational program "Fundamentals of Christian faith and ministry in the parishes" is taking place. Among the participants there are lay people aged 15 to 30 years, who come from a number of parishes of Sokal-Zhovkva Diocese.

The goal of the program is to prepare Christian leaders, their aides and assistant catechists for the ministry in the parishes.

The training is expected to last two years and is taking place on Saturday and at the weekend. Two groups have been formed: fifty participants are being trained in Sokal and another fifty - in Zhovkva. Lay people have the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of the foundations of Christian faith and of liturgical life. They study the following subjects: the history of salvation, the foundations of Christian morality, the Commandments of God, the introduction to the liturgics, the reading of the Scriptures and prayer meetings, and the developmental psychology. Moreover, there is anticipated the conduction of scientific and practical seminars and thematical discussions.

In Zhovkva the studies are conducted by: Fr. Lyc. Yaroslav Malysh, Fr. Lyc. Petro Verkholyak, Fr. Yaroslav Petrukha, Fr. Roman Malkevych, sister Maryana Vlasenko and Mrs. Vira Kozenko. In Sokal the studies are conducted by Fr. Lyc. Andriy Dutchak, Fr. Petro Palyukh, Fr. Roman-Synytskyi, Fr. Yaroslav Valyukh, Fr. Yosyph Skorobohatyi as well as sister Dariya Pitulyk.

The training was organized by the diocesan Catechetical Commission.
