In Vradiivka of the Mykolayiv Oblast, within the territory of the Odesa-Crimean Exarchate, local police checked on Greek Catholic nuns. Sister Pokrova reported that the building where three nuns temporarily stay has been visited by police. The police ordered the nuns to produce documents of entitlement to the house where Greek Catholics plan to organize an asylum. According to the police, that was due to an application of the local parish priest of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate. In 2007 the building was passed to the Greek Catholics as the gift for the needs of the local Caritas. Fr. Roman Balyta explained to the policemen that the nuns came to Vradiivka to start a shelter because they had experience from helping establish one in Ivano-Frankivsk. When asked if the nuns feared that their activity would be hindered, Sister Pokrova expressed her hope that when everything is cleared up, the local authorities and the Orthodox community will support the Greek Catholics in their efforts to establish a shelter for the orphans and children from poor families in Vradiivka.
