International Pilgrimage to the Cathedral of Saint Sofia in Rome

In Autumn 2009, the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church will celebrate a few important jubilees: 40th anniversary of the blessing of the Saint Sofia Cathedral in Rome; 50th anniversary of the blessing of the present Pontifical College of Saint Protection Vail of Mother of God (formerly Small Seminary); 65th anniversary of the death of Servant of God Metropolitan Andrey; 25th anniversary of the death of the beatific Patriarch Joseph Slipyj.
In Autumn 2009, the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church will celebrate a few important jubilees: 40th anniversary of the blessing of the Saint Sofia Cathedral in Rome; 50th anniversary of the blessing of the present Pontifical College of Saint Protection Vail of Mother of God (formerly Small Seminary); 65th anniversary of the death of Servant of God Metropolitan Andrey; 25th anniversary of the death of the beatific Patriarch Joseph Slipyj. Through the support and blessings of His Beatitude Lubomyr, Head of the UGCC, on account of this special occarion, there will be a National Pilgrimage to the Cathedral of Saint Sofia from October 9 to 12, 2009.  “Wisdom built itself a house” (Pr. 9.1) was the slogan of beatific Patriarch Joseph Slipyj, who built the Saint Sofia Cathedral of the Ukrainian Catholic University, in Rome, re-acquired the Pilgrimage House on the Square of Madonna dei Monti in the central part of Rome, and founded the Saint Sofia Society. Organizers invite the faithful of the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church and all good willed people of good to take part in the Pilgrimage and visit these important places for the Church, to pray, to praise those who devoted their lives to preserving the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church.
