Let us pray in the name of Jesus Christ to our Heavenly Father and may we receive what we ask for, His Beatitude Sviatoslav about prayer for personal needs

We sometimes think that by praying for personal needs, we inform the Lord God of what we lack and what we need. In fact, this is not the case. The Lord God understands our needs better than we do. And our prayer asking for our intentions, our needs is important, first of all, for us. Such thoughts were expressed by the Head and Father of the UGCC in the fifth part of the video project "His Beatitude Sviatoslav: #clearly_about_complicated

His Beatitude noted that the prayer of supplication plays a very important role in human life, even from a scientific point of view, because the ability to express what we feel or think is a vital necessity of any person.  "How important it is sometimes to have the opportunity to speak to someone.  How often we feel that there is no one who is ready to listen to us! ” remarked the Head of the Church.

The Lord God very much wants us to open to Him the depth of our hearts.  He is always ready to listen to us.  He is the One who is really always around and will never betray.  When we learn to speak to the Lord God in personal prayer for our own needs, to reveal them, then we will be able to overcome our loneliness forever,” said His Beatitude.

The spiritual leader of the Greek Catholics explained that if in prayer for others we asked God for the needs of our neighbors, now - in the prayer of supplication - our neighbors intercede for us.  “These requests of ours are picked up by the choir of worshipers from the whole Church.  That is, our voice becomes like the voice of the whole church community," the Patriarch emphasized.

According to the Head of the UGCC, personal prayer is not a cry into emptiness.  "The Son of God speaks to his Father in the bosom of the Holy Trinity about us," His Beatitude said, adding, "and the Holy Spirit, as the Apostle Paul says, intercedes for us with unspeakable groans.   And so we feel like beloved sons of Heavenly Father, we feel like a found lamb on the shoulders of the Good Shepherd.”

At the end of the catechesis on prayer, the Head and Father of the UGCC shared the key to our prayer being heard by God.  “We must learn to pray in the name of the Son, in the name of Christ, to Heavenly Father, and then we will have what we ask for… We need to be fully convinced, confident to believe that we will receive what we ask for.  May Heavenly Father accept all our prayers that we address to Him!”

We remind you that on May 16, 2020, the UGCC launched a new video project "His Beatitude Sviatoslav: #clearly_about_complicated

In it, the Head of the UGCC explained important Christian truths in an accessible way.  The first parts of the project were dedicated to prayer.  You can watch new programs every Saturday at 21:00 on the "Zhyve TV" channel on YouTube or the "Zhyve TV" page on Facebook.
