Mechanical ventilation presented by Ivano-Frankivsk cathedral will be connected to a patient today

On Wednesday, April 15, archbishop and metropolitan of Ivano-Frankivsk Volodymyr Viytyshyn together with an archpriest Yuriy Novitskyi, a parish priest of the cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ transferred ventilators for the needs of Regional Infectious Diseases Hospital of Ivano-Frankivsk.

An institution became one of the first ones, which started receiving patients with a suspicion for coronavirus. So far, there are 85 patients with a suspicion for COVID-19 in the hospital.

“It is difficult to stay calm when everything we hear around us is about death. Nevertheless, we believe in God’s saving grace”, states a chief physician of Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Infectious Diseases Hospital and adds that the hospital still needs supplementary medical scrubs.

“This is a joint effort initiated by a parish priest of our church, Fr. Yuriy, which we contributed to willfully. We see how a number of infected people is increasing, and, thus, we as Church cannot stay apart”, says Volodymyr Viytyshyn, archbishop and metropolitan of Ivano – Frankivsk.

As for him, Church prays daily for all medicals and diseased ones. “Apart from a prayer we also organized a work of our anti-crisis coordinating center the aim of what is to help people in need with particular works of mercy”, metropolitan signified, wishing medicals of the hospital hood health and God’s blessings.

The parish priest of the cathedral, an archpriest Yuriy Novitskyi tells that the idea of buying ventilators appeared after the pandemic had started and a quarantine had been announced.

“Owing our priests and laity we managed to buy this mechanical ventilation. We pray daily for medicals and sick people, for fighting pandemic, yet we were able to perform this act of assistance with our joint efforts”, Fr. Yuriy says.

Similar projects are launched due to donations of religious organizations of the archeparchy and caring people, as with the beginning of a quarantine Ivano – Frankivsk archeparchy has started a vast social activity, aimed at supporting of the population.
