Meeting of the Greek Catholic clergy in Novosibirsk (Russia)

December 3-5, 2013 in Diocesan center named after Alexander Hyry , in Novosibirsk, the annual meeting of priests and monks of the Byzantine rite who serve in the Russian Federation, was held. The apostolic delegate for Greek Catholics in Kazakhstan Fr. Basil Hovera was at the meeting .

The meeting was held under the leadership of Bishop Joseph Werth, Bishop of ordinary of Catholics of the Byzantine Rite in Russia, who highlighted the major events in the life of the Church of the year , and blessed the clergy with productive work .

During the meeting three reports were presented: Fr. B. Hovera introduced the topic of the underground pastorship of  blessed martyr Alexis Zaritsky in the context of instructions of Pariarch Joesef the Blind, who governed the life of Church in time of persecution by the Soviets , the canonical aspects of pastorship were highlighted by Msgr. Sergey Timashev , Vicar General of archdiocese of the Mother of God in Moscow, Fr. Sergey Nicolenko , the rector of the parish of St. Ignatius of Antioch in Moscow presented the report, which contains an analysis of the religious situation on the territory of modern Russia. Particular attention is devoted to the phenomenon of " New Age ."

A number of issues related to the translation into Russian of liturgical books and the Catechism were considered. The meeting ended in prayer to the Blessed Virgin Mary , under the patronage of which the clergy give  themselves and their parishes.

By the way, the meeting was also attended by priests from the Diocese of Stryi, who serve on the territory of Fr. Peter Pavlyshyn and Fr. Oleg Novosad .
