Metropolitan Stefan (Soroka) invites you to the Summit of Families which have experienced persecution for their faith

Philadelphia archdiocese of the UGCC invites to the World Meeting of Families, which will be held on 22-27 September 2015 in Philadelphia, those families which have experienced persecution for their faith.

As it was informed to the Information Department of the UGCC in the press service of the archdiocese, Archbishop Stefan (Soroka), Metropolitan of Philadelphia, during this meeting is going to give the floor to those families who have experienced persecution for their faith.

"My hope and my goal are - said the Archbishop – to give this word to devoid of voice, so that they can give evidence of their persecution, to share their stories, and in particular, speak about the impact of these suffering and persecution for them".

Bishop Stefan noted that the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church for centuries experienced persecution for the faith - the experience must be presented at the meeting, and the evidence must be heard.

The Archbishop said that religious persecution as ever and is constantly taking place in the world - in Eastern Europe, the Middle East, in Africa - in almost every corner of the world. And often their stories remain unknown.

The World Meeting of Families invited the Holy Father Francis. Organizers hope that the Pope will take part in it. In Philadelphia it is awaited for the arrival of one million members. World Meeting of Families, which is organized by the Pontifical Council for the Family, takes place every three years.
