The Minister of Regional Development and Building of Ukraine, Mr. Vasyl’ Kuybida, was also present for the festivities. The Bishop blessed the students as well as faculty and expressed his wishes to see them all increase in their spiritual and physical strength for the good of the state. The gathered also prayed for the memory of Orest Dichkivskyj, the first director of the lyceum. From the time of its foundation in1995, the Prykarpattya military-sport lyceum has used a few adapted buildings in the village Bogorodchany for its activities, however, the poor conditions of the buildings influenced the regional authority in 2005 to hand over this complex, which is located in the former military zone of Nadvirna. Since then, there has been long-running renovations to make it suitable for learning. About 350 students are expected to study at this lyceum. The regional authority has claimed that the future officers who study here will have studied at one of the best military-sport lyceums.
