For 24 hours young people will stay in the prison cells of the former KGB, now the Ternopil regional museum of political prisoners, said Sviatoslav Lipovetsky, deputy chairman of the Ukrainian Youth Association (CYM). According to Sviatoslav, the first event of this kind took place in 2005, and that year CYM was joined by Obnova Federation of Ukrainian Catholic Student Organizations. “This event lasts for exactly one day, so young people who stay in the cells can have a better feeling of the era of liberation and interact with participants of OUN and UPA and political prisoners,” said Sviatoslav. As part of the program of the event, historians will tell of the liberation period in the history of Ukraine. Also at the event will be present a priest who will conduct a spiritual retreat. The event will end with a common prayer at the Liturgy. After a day in the cells, organizers of the event will put the word “Kruty” on Theatre Square of the city and will hold a memorial to commemorate the young men who died in 1918 for the independence of Ukraine.
