Pastoral work with alcohol dependent according to method of spiritual therapy in Vinnytsya and Kyiv

On November 26, 2008, in Vinnytsya the seminar “Pastoral work with the alcohol dependent according to the method of spiritual therapy” for clergy of the Vinnytsya and Zhytomyr Deanery and on December 10, 2008, for clergy of the Kyiv and Vyshhorod Deanery of the Kyiv Archeparchy was held. To conduct the seminar, the Commission on Pastoral Health Care of the Kyiv Archeparchy invited Fr. Andriy Lohin, Ph.D. During the seminars the manual “Spiritual therapy for work with persons addicted to alcohol” was presented. The purpose of the manual is to help clergy work with the alcohol dependent according to the 12 step program After the completion of therapy the priest helps the now “recovering alcoholics” in the creation of a mutual support group of anonymous alcoholics, trusting themselves to preserve their sobriety and mature spiritually and psychologically, while remaining their spiritual leader and mentor. At the end of the seminar the proto presbyters Fr. Vitaliy Sydoruk, Fr. Vasyl Mizyuk and Fr. Ihor Onyshkevich on behalf of the clergy of their deaneries expressed sincere gratitude to Fr. Andriy Lohin
