Priests from Ternopil – Zboriv archeparchy of the UGCC, mainly Fr. Yevhen Flysta, Fr. Myroslav Khudiak and Fr. Andriy Chernetskiy are staying with a pastoral mission in JFO zone with a blessing granted by the archbishop and metropolitan Vasyl Semeniuk.

According to the chaplains, a distinction of this service is due to the feast of Epiphany. “Military men were preparing for this holiday in a special way, as they wanted to act out an atmosphere of warmth and coziness by singing shchedrivky, carols and joint preparation for the Holy Supper”, the priests say.

January 19, on the day of the Baptism of the Lord, the chaplains together with a military commandant of the town Popasna visited combat positions of various brigades and battalions to share kutia and varenyky made by citizens from Ternopil region and bless everyone for the victory.

A highlight of the event was that military men of one of the brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine had previously cut out a cross in an icy river, where, on Epiphany day, priests could bless water and all the present. Afterwards the celebration followed with bathing in the icy water.
