Representatives of the Council of Churches met with the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine

Representatives of the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations discussed with the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk current issues of Ukraine's transformation as a European democratic state.

This was reported by the press service of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine  with reference to the Secretariat of the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

The meeting was attended by: His Beatitude Sviatoslav, Father and Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church; Archbishop Evstratiy Zoria, spokesman for the Kyiv Metropolitan Church of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine; Bishop Mykhailo Panochko, President of the All-Ukrainian Union of Evangelical Churches; Father Oleksa Petriv from the Department of external affairs of the UGCC, as well as Mykhailo Kharij, a representative of the National Forum "Transformation of Ukraine."

"One of the main topics of discussion during the meeting was the need to resume communication between civil society and the current government, so that the public demand formed by the people can reach the ears of the Verkhovna Rada, and that the government and society can respond to current challenges in the state," said Fr. Oleksa Petriv.

According to him, the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations is a representative of a large part of the civil society.

During the meeting, the participants noted the role of the inter-factional parliamentary association "Transformation of Ukraine" in promoting the necessary legislative initiatives.

In order to reach a public consensus on the priorities for further democratic transformation of Ukraine, the participants agreed to organize and hold a series of national discussions on the development of the country.
