UGCC prison chaplains have begun to study of the foundations of social reintegration of former prisoners. Special attention during the seminar, which was held in Chernihiv on October 14-15, 2011, was given to work with women. Trainer Ruslana Bezpalcha, who has extensive experience in this area, described the specifics of beginning and developing work with women who require assistance. The group discussed the features of priestly ministry in the male and female prisons, the principles of acceptance, assistance, and “pitfalls” in this complicated service. The education will be continued soon. On June 14, the day of the Veil of Our Lady, chaplains visited prisoners with life sentences, minors and women held in a Chernihiv prison. On October 15, Fr. Vitalii Kotyk greeted 44 female prisoners.
