On November 7, the fourth Social Days of UGCC will begin in Kyiv. The theme of this year’s event is “In the beginning there was the Word: Communication in the 21st century.” The events will last for the whole month of November and will be conducted in Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Kharkiv, Odesa, Kherson, Kirovohrad, and Lutsk. The Social Days of the UGCC (previously called Social Week) is an open platform that unites believers of the UGCC, of other churches and communities, and all people of good will. It is the first attempt in the post-Soviet space to engage representatives of religious and non-governmental organizations in a public discussion at both the local and national levels. The program of the Days is ecumenical and interreligious. A unique event will be the exhibition of European artists called “By the Eyes of the Poor,” which will be displayed in the Taras Shevchenko Park. The exhibit opens on November 7. Participants of the Social Days will have the opportunity to discuss issues and problems of communication of different levels and forms, and will learn to communicate effectively. The objective of the Social Days is also to give a voice to those who have difficulty breaking through the information space. The Social Days will include a traditional Action of Solidarity, which will consist of visits to prisons, orphanages, nursing homes, and needy families.
