Questions of the state and prospects of building of the Patriarchal Center in Kyiv were some of the questions examined at the Synod of Bishops of the UGCC on September 6, reported Bishop Bohdan (Dzyurakh), Secretary of Synod of Bishops of UGCC. The report on the last year was presented by Bishop Joseph (Milyan), head of Supervisory Council of building the Patriarch Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ in Kyiv. Bishop Joseph described to the synod the plan of construction work for 2011-2012. In addition, there was an update on the collection of money for building the Patriarchal Cathedral. In particular, the activity of some eparchies was recognized, and it was decided to continue successful fundraising projects such as the My brick on the Cathedral and to plan new initiatives. One such idea is to make souvenirs with the image of the Patriarchal Cathedral to popularize the Patriarchal Center, and also to use as an additional source for collecting money. “Interest is shown by people who want to offer contributions. In particular, they want to donate for the bells for the Patriarchal Cathedral, icons or stained-glass windows,” noted Bishop Bohdan. The second large block of questions was on particular law. The discussion was “about adding to the common church law, which is in Code of Canons of Eastern Churches, where it is foreseen that every national church should make their own statutes,” remarked the Secretary of the Synod. In addition to this, the bishops examined the Statutes of the Synod of the Metropolis and the Synod of the Kyiv-Halych Major Archbishopric.
