The benefactors from Germany and Austria provided assistance to homeless and to a people with low-income, who have become victims of a cold winter in Ukraine

As a result of the low temperatures, frosts and snowfalls, in a number of Ukrainian cities, at the beginning of winter of 2012-2013, some problems arose with the heating, water and electricity supply, getting to remote destinations. With the assistance of the benefactors from CF "Caritas" of Germany and Vienna, such Ukrainian Fund established a network of heating and charitable soup kitchens for people who suffer from cold winter. The CF "Caritas Ukraine" has provided assistance to nearly a thousand of homeless and people with low-income who became the victims of a cold winter. This was reported by Nadia Chorna, manager of public relations of the CF "Caritas Ukraine".

With the assistance of the benefactors from CF "Caritas" of Germany and Vienna, such Ukrainian Fund established a network of heating and charitable soup kitchens for people who suffer from cold winter. The CF "Caritas Ukraine" has provided assistance to nearly a thousand of homeless and people with low-income who became the victims of a cold winter. Such an initiative was aimed to provide the representatives of vulnerable categories of populations with hot meals, medical supplies, warm clothing and footwear. Employees of the regional organizations of CF "Caritas" prevented, in such a way, a large number of cases of hypothermia, provided first aid to victims, as well as provided the psychological support. Eleven heating stations and soup kitchens were working at the regional organizations in different regions of Ukraine ─ Kyiv, Donetsk, Khmelnytskyi, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk and Ternopil. The heating stations were stationary and mobile. The assistance was provided to 700-900 people on a daily basis.

It should also be added that last year, owing to the assistance of benefactors from Germany and Vienna, charitable organization of "Caritas" in Ukraine ensured the supplies for 12 stations of heating and soup kitchens for almost 1.5 thousand of people in need. Therefore, the representatives of the Foundation express their sincere gratitude to the benefactors, volunteers, partners for their indifference to other people’s grief, compassion, care and attention to those in need.
