The Birth of the Savior Transforms the Dark Night of Anxiety Into Hope, His Beatitude Sviatoslav in Christmas Greeting

The light of Christmas helps each person overcome anxiety and gives faith and hope for the future. The Father and Head of the UGCC stressed this in his Christmas greetings.

“In this bright Christmas holiday, the entire universe rejoices at the birth of our Savior in the human body. Christmas every year has a new, unusual but deeper manifestation for us,” said the Primate.

According to him, Jesus Christ took upon Himself the cares of man and his difficulties, pains and sufferings. We can say that there is no such human affliction in the Nativity that the Lord Himself would not have experienced.

The Head of the UGCC stressed the importance of being aware of God's presence in our life: “As we celebrate Christmas, we understand that there is no such human life that is not worth living, no such circumstances of a person's life in which our Lord was not personally present. Here and now, in the modern and historical wave of all mankind, including our nation, as well as every human life, the Lord is born and enters with His joy and light."

"Each time we celebrate Christmas, we feel that the Lord transforms the night of my personal darkness  and fear into a bright Christmas event. In the present circumstances of humanity, we feel great anxiety. Many nations are alarmed: in North and South America, the Middle East, Australia, Eastern Europe… A lot of people are worried and afraid. However, this dark night of anxiety for humankind is now turning into a Christmas Eve, a wave of hope, into a light of tomorrow, and we sing that ‘God is with us,’” emphasized the spiritual leader of the Greek Catholics.

"On this day, I sincerely greet you with this holiday! To those who celebrate it in Ukraine and throughout the world, with their family or far from home - I announce to all of you that today our Savior is born and the darkness of the human night becomes the light of Christmas! Christ is Born! Let us glorify Him! ”- said His Beatitude Sviatoslav.
