His Beatitude Lubomyr, Head of Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church, declared that the current crisis has taken a toll on our society. “The crisis in which we found ourselves has showed up as a serious illness in society. It is a crisis of the heart and mind – and this is worse than the economic crisis. In short, our society is very ill,” explained the Head of the UGCC on August 27, 2009, during a press conference in UNIAN. “We can be healed of this illness, in my opinion, if each of us, young and old, tries to save their humanity,” continued His Beatitude Lubomyr. At the press conference, he reminded listeners about the concerts, which the UGCC has organized, that will hopefully reach out to youth and help them to feel human. “They will remind them of the dignity and nobility of doing something good for themselves and for others,” commented the Head of the UGCC. “It seems to me that we can not expect that someone, an outsider, will work out our problems for us. It is certain that outward help is very useful – for example, from parents, teachers, clergy, and society in general. However, the final steps must come from the inside. Artistic beauty allows us to contemplate and become more in tuned with our selves,” explained His Beatitude Lubomyr.  The second most important step to resolve the crisis, in the opinion of the Head of the UGCC, is to have a sense of responsibility before one self and before others.
