The footballers of Skala-Podilska’s team won the Cup in the Championship among the parishes

The Christian football tournament among the parishes took place on the 9^th-10^th of June 2012 on the Borshchiv stadium (Ternopil region) with the blessing of the priest of Buchatska Diocese of Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church – Dmytro (Hryhorak). The UGCC team of the Borshchev city (the parish of Nativity of St. John the Baptist), the Skala-Podilska urban village (the parish of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary), the Hermakivka village (the parish of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary) as well as the Ustya village (the parish of St. Archangel Mykhail) took part in the championship. It was reported by Olesya Moskvalyuk. The tournament was carried out under the slogan “Let’s train our body in the Christian spirit.” The main objective of the championship was to attract children and youth to the Church and to create understanding that everything should be made with God. On the first day of competition the game was held between the teams of Skala- Podilska and Ustya (ended with the score 4:0) as well as between Borshchev and Hermakivka (ended with the score 5:0). The next day the games for the prizes were held. According to the results of previous games, the team of Ustya village and the team of Hermakivka village were competing for the third place (ended with the score 0:1). The game for the winner title was held between the team of Borshchev village and the team of Skala-Podilska urbal village (ended with the score 0:2). The mayor of Borshchev Ivan Bashnyak attended the awards Ceremony, during which he rewarded all the participating teams with the certificates of merit with the signature and a stamp of a Reverend Bishop Dmytro (Hryhorak), the winners received the Champion Clubs’ Cup. The major organizer of the championship Father Volodymyr Kremza, who is the administrator of the parish of Nativity of St. John the Baptist of the Borshchev village, greeted the winners. Ultimately, the participators and the guests of the competition were treated with a variety of sweets.
